Head Golf Professional: The First Tee of Greater Austin’s Harvey Penick Golf Campus

Job Summary: Golf Professional is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Harvey Penick Golf Campus; a 9 hole golf course which also includes a 3 hole short course, driving range and practice putting and chipping greens. Responsibilities include; managing the golf course staff and working closely with the Executive Director and Programming Manager to ensure capacity for public play (golf and footgolf) is met while balancing The First Tee of Greater Austin programming needs. Reports to: Executive Director (ED) Supervises: The Golf Professional trains, supervises, coordinates all golf staff, including the personnel working carts and range and inside counter help. Management/Leadership • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the golf course including the financial reporting. • Hiring, training and managing the Golf Course Staff. • Assist with the marketing of the golf course to include both social media and traditional marketing along with database and website maintenance. • Working closely with the Director of Instruction create lesson programs that caterer to various audiences; employee groups, seniors, working women, etc. • Assist the promotion of The First Tee of Greater Austin’s youth and family programs. • Coordinate and manage all events at the Harvey Penick Golf Campus including; general public events and The First Tee of Greater Austin events. • Working closely with ED and Marketing Manager, actively pursue “new” business; footgolf and golf through donors, families, sponsors and members Communications/Public Relations • Provide daily posts for social media to include events, golf course conditions, personal stories/testimonials, etc. along with providing “stories” for the monthly TFTGA enewsletter. • Working with the Director of Marketing and Communications (DMC) to ensure the HPGC website content is “fresh” and “relevant.” • Provide reports to the ED for both the Executive Committee and Board of Directors Meetings. Programming/Youth Services • Provide a safe environment for TFTGA Programs and other all guests. • As time allows participate as an instructor in TFTGA programs. To include enrollment in TFT Coaches Program. • Working with the ED and Events Coordinator create an annual calendar of events to include a variety of audiences; youth, youth and family, corporate, general public, etc. • Assist the PM with the implementation of the Foundation Tour (a TFTGA tournament series). • Coordinate with other local and state junior golf tours in creating opportunities for TFTGA youth. Financial Responsibility • Assist the ED with the annual golf operations budget. Experience / Qualifications:  PGA or LPGA Member preferred  Preferred enrollment in The First Tee Coaches Program at Level II or higher  Experience in teaching golf to new and experienced players  Preferred experience with growth of the game initiatives; Play Golf America (or like), etc.  Outstanding communication skills  Experience with Word and Excel for writing letters of recommendation and managing player/tournament rosters  Preferred experience with database management  Valid driver’s license  Must pass a background check  Able to work a flexible schedule as needed  Creative and fun on the run!  Attention to detail  Able to lift 30 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
