Mentors Matter
Join more than 19,000 volunteers nationwide who are helping to guide youth in their communities by volunteering at their respective The First Tee chapters. There are many ways you can give your time to support the mission of The First Tee of Greater Austin and help us introduce the game of golf and it's inherent values like overcoming adversity, goal-setting and interpersonal skills, to kids and teens. We're looking for a diverse group of volunteers from the Austin metro area to help deliver our character-building programs. Ages 13 + are welcome as well as men and women from any background. As a volunteer, you will be looked upon as a model of
The First Tee’s Nine Core Values: Honesty, Integrity, Perseverance, Judgment, Responsibility, Respect, Courtesy, Confidence, and Sportsmanship. In addition, you will be identified as a trustworthy, caring mentor.
Where We Need Your Help
Our chapter of The First Tee operates year-round and heavily relies on the help of volunteers at our 8 program sites. Golf experience is not required to make a difference. We provide more than 1,000 hours worth of programs each year and more than five major fundraisers requiring pre-event, day of and post-event work. While many opportunities relate to golf, our chapter has the need for support off the course as well. Golf experience is not required to make a difference. Volunteer opportunities at our chapter include:
- Assistant Coaching/Mentoring
- Operations/Administration
- Special Events
- Fundraising/Event Support
- Beautification/Maintenance Projects
You'll learn more about these areas that we need help in during training (required) where you will hear more about our chapter and meet members of our staff. Volunteers for our chapter are also invited to play golf or footgolf at The Harvey Penick Golf Campus free of charge (when volunteering at least 12 hours a year).
