Dell Technologies and the World Golf Championships Check Presentation

Dell Technologies and the World Golf Championships works to support health, wellness, and academic achievement for Austin’s youth by partnering with local charities. The WGC Dell Technologies Match Play has been in Austin for two years, during this time the tournament has raised more than $2.1 million in charitable proceeds.  The 2017 event alone raised more than $1.1 million to benefit Austin Parks Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area, Helping Hand Home for Children, Keep Austin Beautiful, and The First Tee of Greater Austin. The tournament itself has been an incredible experience for our students as many of them work hard throughout the year to earn the opportunity to be a Standard Bearer and walk inside the ropes with their idols. Today, Tuesday, Sept. 26th  Dell Technologies and the World Golf Championships will present The First Tee of Greater Austin as well as the other four charities’ a check at Colony Park in Austin Texas. We at The First Tee of Greater Austin can’t thank Dell Technologies and the World Golf Championships enough for their support and because of their support, we’ve been able to expand our programs—we now have six satellite locations available (Balcones C.C., Blackhawk G.C., Falconhead G.C., Jimmy Clay G.C., Onion Creek Club, and TopGolf) in addition to our home course the Harvey Penick Golf Campus.  The two new sites; Blackhawk and Jimmy Clay also us to bring the program closer to more families making it more convenient for kids from all over Austin to participate in our programs. We also added five new schools to our National School Program where we provide equipment and training thanks to Dell Technologies to the Physical Education Teachers who will teach The First Tee life skills and healthy habit curriculum along with the game of golf to over 2,300 youth during their regular PE classes; below is the list of schools. Each school represents a diverse population with an average of 90% of the students coming from an economically challenged household.
  • Baty Elementary
  • Del Valle Elementary
  • Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary
  • Gilbert Elementary
  • Campbell Elementary
In addition to the program expansion, the Dell Technologies Match Play event is allowing The First Tee of Greater Austin to accelerate its plans for building a Learning Center at The First Tee of Greater Austin’s home course, the Harvey Penick Golf Campus located in east Austin. To all the fans, spectators, volunteers, and sponsors of the World Golf Championship—Dell Technologies Match Play—thank you! The above expansions would not be possible if it weren’t for you.
